Pilot who crash-landed single-engine plane on Gainesville road made late correction to avoid power lines

GAINESVILLE, Ga. — The young pilot who safely crash-landed a single-engine Hawker Beechcraft Bonanza in the middle of a busy Gainesville roadway last week made a last-second adjustment that may have avoided disaster, according to an incident report from police.

The crash happened shortly after noon on Browns Bridge Road near the intersection of Pearl Nix Parkway on Feb. 9, according to police.

Police said the airplane hit multiple vehicles as it came down in the roadway. Despite the dramatic landing, officials thankfully reported only minor injuries…
