Court date set in legal clash between Cobb DA, county

Cobb District Attorney Sonya Allen has filed a lawsuit against the county, claiming a breach of contract from her time working with the Cobb County Sheriff’s Office.

The suit claims the county government halted Allen’s pension payments after she took office in January 2025, with the county arguing Allen had been “rehired” as a county employee by accepting the DA role.

Allen, however, argues she is a state employee, has not been rehired by the county and is therefore still eligible to receive her pension from working with the sheriff’s office…
