Ticketing resumes despite lots still covered in ice

On Feb. 5, the University of Richmond Police Department sent a campus-wide email informing students that standard parking enforcement procedures would resume the next day after a temporary suspension due to a winter storm that began on Jan. 25.

On Jan. 27, shortly after the storm hit, URPD notified faculty, staff and students of modified parking operations due to inclement weather.

The email stated that although the university worked to clear parking lots and sidewalks of ice and snow, some parking areas might remain closed or inaccessible. As a result, campus community members were advised via email that if their designated parking areas were unavailable, they “are welcome to park in any open space nearby,” and that “individuals should use their best judgment in making safe travel decisions.”…
