Shia LaBeouf Released After Mardi Gras Melee in New Orleans
New Orleans, LA – Former Disney Channel star and “Transformers” alum Shia LaBeouf, 39, is back on the streets after a Tuesday morning dust-up in the Big Easy. The actor was taken into custody following a bar fight that reportedly spiraled out of control during Mardi Gras celebrations.
According to reports, the incident began early Tuesday when LaBeouf was escorted out of R Bar. He then allegedly assaulted a man outside before attempting to re-enter the establishment.
Once back inside, he reportedly exhibited aggressive behavior and had to be restrained. The situation escalated further as LaBeouf is accused of assaulting the first man a second time and then punching another individual.
LaBeouf now faces simple battery charges and is scheduled to appear in court on March 19. This latest incident raises questions, particularly given LaBeouf’s recent claims of sobriety.
The actor has faced legal troubles in the past. He was previously accused of sexual battery and assault by FKA twigs. While LaBeouf denied wrongdoing in that case, he acknowledged that there were “no excuses for my alcoholism or aggression, only rationalizations.”
