REPUBLIC, Mo. (KY3) – The Republic School District is recruiting teachers for the upcoming school year, with a particular focus on finding substitute teachers.
The district has successfully used its “Intro to Repmo” recruitment event in recent years. The educator recruitment event, held a month ago, brought potential candidates to campus for dinner, building tours, and question-and-answer sessions with current teachers.
“Each of the past few years we’ve had nearly 75 people come on campus for those events,” said Superintendent Matt Pearce. “And we’ve ended up interviewing more than 10 of those people, and then we’ve secured seven to eight positions really quickly.”
Backup plan for late openings
Pearce said the district has a contingency plan in place if positions open near the start of the school year. If a position opens in May, the district will call on retired teachers to return and fill the gap…
