Regional Fire Task Force Fights Port of Vancouver Ship Fire

VANCOUVER, WA – A massive regional response was triggered Tuesday night after a fire broke out inside a cargo ship at the Port of Vancouver.

The Vancouver Fire Department was dispatched at 9:14 p.m. to reports of smoke and flames coming from a break bulk carrier. A crew member aboard the 656-foot vessel reported the fire originated in a pile of shredded metal inside one of the ship’s cargo holds.

Arriving crews found smoke pouring from an open midship hold where unloading operations were already underway…
