HONOLULU (KHON2) — Malasada Day is known to fall on what Hawaii knows as ‘Fat Tuesday’, the day before Ash Wednesday and the start of Lent.

Tuesday, Feb. 17, Leonard’s Bakery has special hours to ensure that everyone can get their malasada fix.

Down in Kapahulu, the line stretched around the corner as residents and visitors waited for their chance to get a local staple.

The bakery said it’s all hands on deck as customer numbers double for the annual day.
