Kentucky State Police Searching for Missing Man After Reported Bridge Jump

A search is underway for a missing North Carolina man who authorities believe jumped from the Cumberland River bridge on US Highway 62 on Tuesday afternoon.

Shortly after 3:15 p.m. Tuesday, Kentucky State Police Post 1 said they received several reports of a man on the Cumberland River bridge along US Highway 62, which connects Lyon and Livingston County. Soon after, police say they received reports that the man had jumped from the bridge. First responders and emergency crews arrived on the scene and launched search operations to locate the man, with support from nearby agencies using boats and drone technology.

Police reported finding an abandoned vehicle on U.S. Highway 62 near the Kentucky Dam in Marshall County that was registered to 22-year-old Dakota Perry of Charlotte. After speaking with witnesses, authorities say, “It is believed that Perry is the man who jumped from the bridge.” Police said search and rescue efforts are ongoing in and around the river…
