Fayetteville man dies after firefighters pull him from burning apartment

Police are investigating the death of a man who was found unconscious inside his burning apartment off Raeford Road on Tuesday, Feb. 17.

According to the Fayetteville Police Department, fire crews located Lenny Meade, 45, just before 8 a.m. in his Rulnick Street home at the Summerlin East Apartment Homes. When crews arrived on scene, flames were visible coming from the unit, police said. The community is comprised of single-story buildings, each containing four apartments.Meade was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
