‘So unimaginable what happened’: NC fire at Callicut Stables kills 36 horses, officials say

SEAGROVE, N.C. (WGHP) — A Sunday fire at a stable in Seagrove has left dozens of horses dead, according to Randolph County Emergency Services.

At 12:48 p.m. on Sunday, firefighters responded to a barn fire at Callicutt Stables on the 8700 block of S. 220 in Seagrove, by Seagrove Family Restaurant.

At the scene, crews found heavy fire at a 15,000-square-foot barn. They trigger a second alarm at 1:13 p.m.

Firefighters were unable to save the barn, which was a total loss, and 36 of the 43 horses boarded in the barn died in the fire. No people were injured…
