Interstate 65 chase ends in arrest, 16 stolen guns recovered from Decatur pawn shop burglary

CULLMAN, Ala. — A man accused of stealing firearms during a Decatur pawn shop burglary was arrested late Tuesday night after a high speed chase along Interstate 65, according to the Cullman Police Department.

Police say they received an area wide BOLO from the Decatur Police Department at approximately 10:52 p.m. regarding a stolen 2001 red Toyota Solara. Authorities say the vehicle had just been used in a pawn shop burglary in Decatur where several firearms and a large quantity of ammunition were taken. The alert indicated the car could be traveling south on I 65.

Officers began checking the interstate corridor. About five minutes later, Officer Joshua Spinks located a vehicle matching the description at a gas station on Highway 157 near Exit 310.
