CLAYTON, N.C. (WNCN) — A pedestrian is dead after being hit by a train in Clayton Tuesday evening, officials said.
According to Town of Clayton officials, the pedestrian was struck around 6 p.m. while crossing the tracks near Stallings Street.
The train was Amtrak 79, also known as The Carolinian, which was traveling north to Raleigh and scheduled to stop in Charlotte, according to town officials.
Officials said the pedestrian died in the crash. Preliminary information suggests this may have been intentional, but the investigation remains ongoing as of Tuesday night…
