Gunman Opens Fire In Botched Palomar Street Robbery, Suspect Still On The Run

A search was underway yesterday in Chula Vista after an attempted robbery near 660 Palomar Street turned violent when a suspect fired a gun and then took off. Police said no one was hurt.

What police say

Officers responded to the 600 block of Palomar Street after reports of an attempted robbery, according to FOX 5 San Diego. The suspect, described as an adult man wearing a dark top and striped pants, discharged a firearm during the encounter before running away.

Police units searched the surrounding area, and investigators called on nearby residents and businesses to review doorbell cameras and other surveillance footage for anything that might help identify the suspect.

Recent incidents on Palomar Street

The latest incident lands on a stretch of Palomar Street that has already been keeping officers busy. A nearby Ralphs was recently hit in a robbery that ended with arrests, 10News reported.

In a separate case, a robbery and shooting at a nearby marijuana dispensary left two people injured, 10News said. Taken together, the incidents highlight the cluster of robberies and violent calls authorities have been tracking in the area…
