Safety cameras at Jahnke Road relocated to Cary Street Road in Richmond

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Two of Richmond’s safety cameras will now monitor traffic on Cary Street Road instead of the previously planned Jahnke Road section.

Richmond officials on Wednesday, Feb. 18, said two safety cameras in the 1200 block of Jahnke Road were relocated to the 4400 block of Cary Street Road behind Mary Munford Elementary School. The cameras were previously located in front of Westover Hills Elementary School.

Officials said the relocation shifted the focus from an area with fewer speeding violations to an area “identified as a higher priority for traffic safety.” The move also factored in heavy vehicle volume on Cary Street Road and an upcoming project that’s expected to reduce vehicle speeds on Jahnke Road, per a release.
