Hamburger Mary’s to close permanently due to construction, ‘economic hardships’

TOLEDO, Ohio — Hamburger Mary’s will close its downtown Toledo location permanently on Wednesday night due to local and industry hardships its facing, according to the restaurant’s co-owner.

Thea Grabiec told WTOL 11 Tuesday evening that the closure has been caused by two factors: “Due to the 4 Corners Construction Project and general economic hardships in the hospitality industry, we will be closing tomorrow night.”

Grabiec spoke with WTOL 11 in November about issues the construction project, which aims to turn two historic buildings into apartments and retail stores, has caused, saying it has significantly hindered access to the restaurant, which sits on North Huron Street between Adams Street and Madison Avenue.
