Popular drive-thru margarita spot closes after 6 years in San Antonio

The post-pandemic buzz is over for one San Antonio area business. Roc-N-Ritas, which began pouring drive-thru margaritas during the height of COVID-19 lockdowns, has shuttered all five of its San Antonio area stores.

The closed locations include:

  • 5726 Babcock Rd.
  • 823 Lockhill Selma Rd.
  • 2864 Thousand Oaks Dr #101
  • 112 E. San Antonio Ave., Boerne
  • 211 Elliot Knox Blvd, New Braunfels

“After 6 incredible years serving the Hill Country, we have made the very difficult decision to close all 5 Roc-N-Ritas locations,” wrote the business on social media. “This was not an easy choice. Roc-N-Ritas has always been more than just drinks to go — it has been about community, friendships, celebrations, and the amazing people who supported our small family-owned business from day one.”

Roc-N-Ritas quickly became popular during 2020 for offering cocktails, beer, and wine for easy pickup. Although the era’s alcohol laws have remained in place, to-go booze became less popular as bars and other public spaces were allowed to be filled to full capacity…
