Springfield schools face projected $10.4M shortfall amid enrollment drop and rising costs

SPRINGFIELD, Ore. — Springfield Public Schools is projecting a $10.4 million budget deficit for the 2026-27 school year.

This was announced during the district’s Budget Committee work session. The district says the reason for the shortfall is due to low enrollment, salary and benefit increases, inflation, and property tax increases.
