Clayton County says dog attacked two animal control workers during microchipping after outcry about his euthanasia

CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. — Clayton County officials said Tuesday that a dog had attacked two animal control workers during microchipping after outcry had followed the dog’s evident euthanasia stemming from the incident.

The county animal control service said the 2-year-old dog, identified as Barney, arrived at their facility in late January after he was found “following reports that he and other dogs were roaming freely in a neighborhood.”

He was described in a Facebook post at the time, listing him as an urgent rescue, as “non-dog reactive (as he shows no signs of aggression towards dogs)” and “people-friendly, and very sweet.” The animal control service’s statement on Tuesday, however, said that he was “noted to be fearful” at the time of intake…
