Birmingham-based non-profit purchases church next to Woodlawn High School to launch community arts center

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — The Birmingham arts non-profit Bare Hands has purchased a church building next to Woodlawn High School.

They plan to renovate the space and turn it into a community arts center that will open before the end of the year.

“Everyone deserves to have access to high quality arts programming,” said Jason Avery, President of the Woodlawn Neighborhood Association. “They have it all over the state. We can have it here too.”…
