A weather alert was issued by the National Weather Service on Wednesday at 3:20 p.m. for black ice until Thursday at 10 a.m. for Franklin, Worcester, Middlesex, Essex, Hampshire, Hampden, Norfolk, Suffolk, Bristol, Plymouth, Barnstable, Dukes and Nantucket counties.
“After a period of light rain/snow showers this afternoon and evening, temperatures will fall below freezing and into the 20s overnight. Light winds will limit how quickly wet surfaces can dry out and thus we expect areas of black ice to develop tonight and persist through the morning commute tomorrow. Travel with caution, especially on untreated surfaces and secondary roads,” says the weather service.
