KALAMAZOO, Mich. — Beacon Kalamazoo has completed a $3.5 million renovation to its emergency department.
The renovation includes a redesigned waiting room, additional rooms and a new dual-pathway care system

Hospital leaders say the update is designed to help staff treat critical emergencies while also moving patients with minor illnesses or injuries through more quickly.
“The overall redesign really is the hospital’s way to answer the unpredictable nature of the emergency department,” Kari Snyder, vice president of nursing at Beacon, said. “So at any given time you can have a critical patient that comes in with a stroke, heart attack, trauma patient, and then at the same time we have to care for those patients.”…
