Mike’s Red Tacos, the San Diego-based beef Birria brand that was one of Yelp’s Top 100 U.S. restaurants in 2023, is planning a major expansion nationwide.
With two storefront locations in San Diego, California, and another local opening planned, this announcement is welcome news to Birria fans. It’s made possible by an accomplished team of restaurant industry leaders, who have gathered to launch a “dynamic franchising initiative,” per a press release from Mike’s Red Tacos.
Leading this movement with the brand’s founder, Mike Touma, is Vincent Montanelli, a longtime restaurant industry executive and former member of the leadership team at Wetzel’s Pretzels.
