Lemont: Pierogi Capital of Illinois

As immigrants sought work in the late 1880s through the early 1900s, many Polish immigrants found opportunity in Lemont’s quarries and, with that, found a new place to call home.

Over the years, Polish residents opened local businesses, grocery stories, restaurants and continue to lovingly share their culture with the Village of Lemont. Cuisine is a great way to experience other cultures, and the pierogi is one of Lemont’s favorite Polish foods.

Celina’s Fresh Market is a community pillar and a neighborhood favorite thanks to their deli and bakery selection. This old-school Polish deli offers freshly made savory and sweet pierogies: potato and cheddar, sauerkraut and mushroom, blueberry, and strawberry.
