New Rockford daycare center aims to provide classroom readiness for children

A new day care and early learning center is opening in southeast Rockford with a focus on preparing children for classroom-ready settings. The facility takes over a space formerly occupied by a day care that abruptly closed more than a year ago.

Amanda and Bryan Amezquita are opening the center together. Amanda is a former teacher with 15 years of experience in the Rockford Public School system. She is transitioning from the classroom to help lead the facility, which she describes as an academy designed to get children ready for elementary school.
