Rio Rancho man sentenced to life in prison for 2024 murder

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – A Rio Rancho man will spend the rest of his life behind bars for his role in a brutal murder two years ago. Christopher Fallen was found dead in a home near Carlisle Blvd. and Constitution Ave. in Albuquerque in February 2024. Fallen was bound, with his head wrapped in tape and a belt around his neck. Police said Fallen’s roommate, Andres Chavez, and another suspect, Daniel Hadders, were responsible. Investigators said Chavez sent photos to Hadders of Fallen with his hands bound. Two months after the murder, police say Chavez died of an overdose.

Hadders went to trial last year, where he was found guilty of murder, kidnapping, and burglary. During sentencing on Tuesday, Fallen’s father spoke. “It was the worst day of my life, I just screamed, ‘No!’ Over and over and over until I couldn’t scream anymore,” said Fallen’s father…
