ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The saga continues around whether New Mexico United will have a soccer stadium built at Balloon Fiesta Park, but the latest legal move could delay that decision for months or more than a year.

It’s been more than two years since the Fiesta Park stadium idea was announced, and while the City of Albuquerque and United have won some legal victories against neighbors fighting it, the New Mexico Court of Appeals is now involved.
Years since announcing a lease agreement with New Mexico United for space at Balloon Fiesta Park, the city’s vision to see the team build a soccer stadium there hasn’t changed, but the empty lot where it could go is just another indicator the stadium is not a done deal. “I do have a lot of respect for the process that people do need to have a voice in these types of things, but we’re now a couple years in, said team owner Peter Trevisani, reacting to the long legal battle the stadium still faces after three neighborhood associations initially voiced concern over potential stadium traffic and noise…
