ATLANTA — Newly-obtained records reveal multiple complaints filed against a Fulton County Schools resource officer officer who was seen on video tasing a student on a school bus the week before Christmas.
11Alive first aired the video in December. It shows Officer Jimmy Durden deploying his Taser on 18-year-old student Lanier Johnson-Hunt from Langston Hughes High School. According to the district, the incident happened after officers attempted to remove the student from the bus.
Johnson-Hunt later hired civil rights attorney Harry Daniels to represent him. Daniels said Johnson-Hunt was riding the correct school bus from Langston Hughes High School when officers confronted him and attempted to remove him, escalating the situation and using a Taser despite Johnson-Hunt not posing a threat.
