Six years later, grandmother’s murder in Cleveland remains unsolved

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) -This Thursday marks six years since the brutal murder of a grandmother in Cleveland. Her case remains unsolved despite the use of new technology and traditional police work.

Benette Smith, 54, was found badly burned and partially dismembered in Cleveland’s Collinwood neighborhood on Feb. 19, 2020.

Firefighters initially responded to what they thought was a brush fire near Larchmont and Clermont, but it quickly turned into a murder investigation…
