Fort Myers police union announces new agreement for higher wages with city

FORT MYERS, Fla. — The Fort Myers Police Association, a local chapter of the International Union of Police Associations, announced on Wednesday that it has reached an agreement with the City of Fort Myers on wages.

The wage agreement includes a 20% increase in pay for year 1 officers and a 10-12% increase for sergeants and lieutenants, said the president of the union, Jari Sanders.

This agreement comes after a lengthy negotiation process, which the union said in a Facebook post “took far too long and should have never reached the point where we lost valuable experience that we cannot recover.”…
