Following two student protests in Brevard and walkouts throughout the state in response to Immigration and Customs Enforcement actions, Florida’s commissioner of education told parents to report school employees if they had encouraged kids to participate in protests.
Anastasios Kamoutsas posted to X on Feb. 18, sharing a post containing a video from the TikTok account TeamTrumpViral, in which a man asks to check his child out of Lake Region High School in Polk County while students were protesting nearby.
“Under @GovRonDeSantis, Florida does not and will not allow school officials to encourage students to ‘walk-out’ or protest,” Kamoutsas said. “If a parent has any evidence of this happening, they can contact our office and we will immediately take action. You can reach us at: 850-245-0438 or [email protected].”…
