Long Beach Fire Department (LBFD) officials Thursday hailed quick-thinking neighbors as heroes after they broke a window and used a garden hose to douse a fire ripping its way through a woman’s apartment.
The fire was sparked at a small, four-unit apartment building on Euclid Avenue near East Fountain Street at around 3:30 a.m. Thursday. When firefighters arrived, smoke and flames were engulfing one of the units.
“Heroic neighbors acted swiftly, breaking a window and using a garden hose to help extinguish the fire,” the Long Beach Fire Department said in a Facebook post Thursday. “Their quick actions helped prevent the fire from spreading.”…
