Erin Brockovich speaks out on concerns about sinking the SS United States in the Gulf

MOBILE, Ala. (NBC 15) — Environmental activist Erin Brockovich is speaking out about sinking the SS United States in the Gulf 20 miles south of Destin. It’s currently docked in Mobile where potentially harmful substances are being removed. Once it’s sunk, it will become the world’s largest artificial reef. Brockovich warned about potentially dumping toxic waste into the Gulf in a Facebook post on Wednesday. Brockovich’s work on exposing groundwater contamination in Hinkley, California later became the subject of an Oscar-winning movie with her name as the title.
