A “pretty significant winter storm” threatens to blanket Massachusetts in several inches of snow this weekend, according to the National Weather Service.
The NWS warned that Massachusetts might be in the path of a powerful nor’easter this weekend and could bring several inches of snow over the weekend, according to Andrew Loconto, a Norton-based NWS meteorologist. However, he acknowledged that the state might manage to totally evade snow. Current forecasts predict between 1 and 5 inches of snow in various parts of the state from 7 a.m. Friday through 7 a.m. Saturday, noting that it is currently too early to predict Sunday’s storm.
“The range of possibilities of what we could see in southern New England could range from a significant snowstorm to just cloudy and dry,” he said. “But the potential exists for some accumulating snow, especially across the South Coast and Cape Cod.”
