We needed a lunch stop after a doctor’s appointment the other day, so Mrs. K and I decided to stop at a place we had been to once before: His Place Eatery at 1411 W. 86th St., Indianapolis.
To my mind, this is the premier spot in Indy for smoked meats: barbecue ribs, pulled pork, beef brisket, and turkey. (They also have a location at 6916 E. 30th St.)
We walked into the brightly lit, modernly fitted restaurant at about 11:20 and were the second customers of the day. Our server Janice brought us waters and we looked over the menu, which you can see at hisplaceeatery.com/menu. Actually, we had the lunch menu which is featured near the bottom of the page listed above. It has an array of very tempting items listed and is available from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
It didn’t take long to decide our order. We chose the pulled pork sandwich ($14.99), which comes with a side, so from that list we picked the coleslaw. This visit we decided to share a sandwich – they really are a very generous size…
