Man dies in San Diego Sheriff’s custody; investigation underway

(FOX 5/KUSI) — Authorities are investigating after a 35-year-old man who was in custody of the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office (SDSO) died at a local hospital early Wednesday morning.

Deputies and a facility nurse at the San Diego Central Jail were handing out medication around 4:30 a.m. on Wednesday when they discovered the man who appeared to be in medical distress and was slumped over a table inside his cell.

According to SDSO, deputies immediately requested assistance from the facility’s medical staff and began attempts to save the man’s life…
