MONROE COUNTY, Fla. – An Orlando man is behind bars after a Wednesday night traffic stop in the Florida Keys turned into a significant drug bust along U.S. 1. Authorities arrested 24-year-old Renee Jesus Perez on February 18 following a roadside investigation that uncovered dozens of grams of illegal narcotics.
The incident began around 9:16 p.m. near Mile Marker 74. According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, deputies had been monitoring Perez after he was allegedly seen handling suspected drugs at a nearby gas station a short time earlier. When deputies pulled his vehicle over, a subsequent search of the car led to the discovery of approximately 43.3 grams of cocaine.
Perez now faces a string of serious charges, including trafficking in cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and the use of a two-way communications device to facilitate a felony…
