Family-owned donut spot in Baton Rouge revamps menu with authentic Cambodian food

Sambath Donuts on Essen Lane will begin serving a new menu on Friday featuring authentic Cambodian cuisine.

At 5703 Essen Lane, Sambath Donuts is mostly a one-woman operation that opened in 2014 serving donuts, kolaches, boudin and Thai food.

A Cambodian emigre, owner Sambath Lim decided to revamp the menu by replacing the Thai dishes with Khmer dishes, also known as Cambodian food. All of the dishes are her own recipes.

“I’m Cambodian,” Lin said. “I want people to know about the culture and ingredients of Khmer food.”…
