High temperatures prompt caution as vehicle partially sinks through Green Lake ice

GREEN LAKE, Wis. (WFRV) – A day after two trucks went through the ice near Menasha, other law enforcement groups are urging caution as unseasonably warm temperatures hinder ice conditions.

The Green Lake County Sheriff’s Office posted a photo of a vehicle partially submerged as the ice has been soft in multiple spots on Green Lake.

“No ice is 100% safe”: Wisconsin DNR urges caution amongst recent warm temperatures

“Please be aware that due to the above average temps and rain recently, the ice on Big Green is very soft in spots,” the Green Lake County Sheriff’s Office said. “Because of this, heavier vehicles will have a hard time driving over parts of the lake.”
