Cheney Lake water levels rise above normal pool for first time in years

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – Cheney Lake is a foot and a half over its normal pool and releasing water, marking a dramatic turnaround from drought conditions a year ago.

The lake, one of Wichita’s main water sources, puts the city in a much better position heading into spring and summer. The change is welcome news for the lake and its visitors, including fishermen who are taking advantage of the improved conditions.
