NEW ORLEANS — A family’s Mardi Gras celebration took a frightening turn during the Zulu parade.
Tara McBride and her son, Harpyr, were standing along the route, catching throws and enjoying Mardi Gras. When Float 26 passed by, though, she says something far more dangerous than the traditional coconuts came flying off.
“I had him on my shoulder,” McBride said, “I saw something hit him, I heard something hit him, but I thought it was a coconut until I felt the glass and the drink spatter all over my leg.”…
