Coroner IDs 3 men slain in separate homicides over Mardi Gras holiday

The New Orleans coroner on Thursday identified three men killed in New Orleans in separate shootings on Mardi Gras and the two days leading up to it.

Ricky Smith Jr., 37, was fatally shot at around 12:26 a.m. Sunday in Central City. He was pronounced dead at the scene in the 2300 block of South Derbigny Street, NOPD said.

Osmar Flores, 24, was shot dead at around 5:58 p.m. Sunday in Village de l’Est. Flores was one of three people wounding in a shooting in the 13500 block of Granville Street and died in a hospital, NOPD said…
