(COLORADO SPRINGS) — These days sourdough is all the rage. And one local baker has been perfecting her recipes to rise above the rest — Jayna’s Artisan & Co. This military wife knows exactly what it takes to create fresh, handcrafted breads and treats.
Jayna DeLanzo, the baker behind Jayna’s Artisan & Co, along with her daughter Alianna, joined FOX21’s Krista Witiak in-studio to share the story behind her growing sourdough business, and to give viewers a taste of the handcrafted breads and treats that keep customers coming back for more in Colorado Springs.
Jayna, a military spouse and homeschooling mom of three, said her sourdough journey began when her youngest daughter developed severe gluten intolerance. Determined not to give up family dinners filled with fresh bread, she committed to mastering sourdough.
Through an extended, small-batch fermentation process, often three to four times longer than many traditional methods, she creates bread that’s easier to digest while still delivering incredible flavor. While not gluten-free, her sourdough allows her daughter and others with sensitivities to enjoy bread again.
And the variety is impressive. Jayna bakes everything from classic artisan rounds to bold flavors like cheddar jalapeño and gouda with caramelized onions.
