SALEM, Ore. (KPTV) – A 29-year-old man was sentenced to prison on Wednesday in connection with an assault and robbery that happened near a Salem park last summer.
The Polk County District Attorney’s Office said Frank Donovan Eckel was found guilty of first-degree robbery and second-degree assault. He was sentenced to 10 years and 10 months in prison.
The incident happened in the early morning hours of Aug. 3, 2025, near Wallace Marine Park. Eckel approached someone who he then assaulted and threatened with a knife. Eckel then fled with the victim’s backpack.
