Sheriff in Nancy Guthrie investigation says it is ‘very unfortunate’ as he breaks silence

As the investigation into Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance enters its third week, criticism of Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos has only gotten louder.

In a statement to Parade addressing the scrutiny, Nanos said, “Right now, our focus is on this investigation and serving the victims and this community. Internal or political commentary distracts from this active investigation, and it is very unfortunate. My focus remains on justice and transparency.”

Nanos’ comments followed concerns raised by law enforcement officials who questioned whether his leadership decisions have slowed progress in the search for Guthrie, who was reported missing from her Tucson home earlier this month.
