Portage County’s domestic relations judge is ordering county commissioners to provide more space for her court, nearly five years after asking for an expansion.
The judgement entry was filed Feb. 17 by Portage County Domestic Court Judge Paula Giulitto. It orders commissioners to either identify a suitable facility to house the Domestic Relations Court, or make plans to build such a facility, starting this spring.
In September 2021, Giulitto and Juvenile Court Judge Patricia Smith proposed an expansion to the back of the courthouse to streamline the way family court cases are handled.
