Woman loses Facebook business account to person posing as social media influencer

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (InvestigateTV) — A North Carolina woman who uses Facebook for her business says a person posing as a social media influencer locked her out of her own account, threatening her side business.

Laura Stotts created her Diary of Abandonment page on Facebook page nine years ago, where she posts photographs of abandoned farm homes, neglected historic buildings, ghost towns and cemeteries. A few months ago, she was just starting to monetize the page.

“I’ve worked really hard to get there and so it was a big milestone for me,” Stotts said.

That changed when she received an email invitation to be a guest on a Facebook Live event with another influencer. They set up a Zoom call so she could learn how it worked…
