Thousands left without power after early morning storms in East Tennessee

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — Crews have worked to restore electricity after thousands of people across East Tennessee were left without power Friday morning after storms passed through the region.

As of 9 a.m., Knoxville Utilities Board showed more than 721 customers were impacted by outages across Knox County, which is a decrease from the more than 3,700 outages reported by KUB Friday morning. The following utility providers also reported outages:

  • Lenoir City Utilities Board: 151
  • Fort Loudon Electric Cooperative: 89
  • Alcoa Electric Department: 129
  • Sevier County Electric: 756
  • Volunteer Electric Cooperative: 23
  • Harriman Utility Board: 566

Around 6 a.m., utility companies reported that more than 11,000 people across East Tennessee were impacted by power outages.
