Mobile pauses online sales tax fight

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – The City of Mobile has voluntarily dismissed its legal challenge against Alabama’s handling of the Simplified Sellers Use Tax (SSUT), opting to pursue a legislative solution.

Mobile was among several municipalities that joined a lawsuit in December, alleging the state’s current SSUT system.

At the request of state legislative leadership, Mobile agreed to pause its legal action without prejudice, allowing the city to reassert its claims if a timely and meaningful resolution is not reached…
