Oxford man arrested after caught on surveillance allegedly making threats to woman

An Oxford man was arrested for assault after allegedly threatening to “beat” a woman during a public altercation.

On Feb. 5, a deputy responded to a residence in Oxford to escort an individual giving medication to a resident, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. Upon arrival, multiple other parties came to the residence, and a verbal altercation ensued among most people on the property, including 54-year-old Randy Connealius James.

During the altercation, a woman got into an argument with James. She later reported this to law enforcement. She described how James balled up his fist, came at her and stated he was going to bust her face in, all of which she recorded on her phone and showed to a deputy, the report said.

The footage depicted her telling James to get out of her face multiple times, to which he stated she better take her “hind end on,” or he would “beat” her. He coupled this statement by raising his right arm and hand to extend up and past the camera lens on her phone. He also aggressively pointed or jabbed in the direction of her face.
