Antioch man arrested, 2 wanted after phone and purse robbery pursuit in stolen car

(KRON) — The Benicia Police Department said it worked with Antioch police to arrest one man in a trio of suspects who allegedly used a stolen vehicle to evade authorities after snatching a woman’s phone and purse on Wednesday night.

The woman told police dispatch that the incident happened near Rose Drive and Columbus Parkway as she was approaching the front door of her home, said BPD.

“Three suspects were involved and fled the scene in a vehicle that had stolen plates,” said police in a social media post on Thursday. “Using the stolen plate number we were able to confirm through our ALPR system (Flock) that the vehicle was in the area of the robbery at the time it happened, and also discover that the vehicle had entered the City of Antioch shortly after the robbery.”

BPD said the suspects tried to run after officers eventually located their vehicle. A 22-year-old Antioch man was soon caught by Antioch police officers and taken into custody. The unidentified man was brought back to Benicia PD and booked at county jail while the other two suspects remain at large. Police did not provide their description.
